Wowza! Just stumbled on this recording of Larry and the Crossfires. Larry was my brother-in-law. He died in 1984. I still have a box of 45’s they recorded including Send You Back to Memphis. And my wife (Dee Turley Troutman) and I still own Larry Turley’s guitar he played then - a Gibson ES 355.

I'M so shocked to hear this. Sorry for this life's loss. I'd prayed he was well and happy. What took him from us, if you don't mind telling me. Sorry if I'm too intrusive. It pains me to here this so much. Love to all. Carrol a fan and old friend

@carroldenny618 Carol, were you a friend of Larry's? He and the Crossfires played a variety of venues around the Kansas City area in the mid=1960's. He was a fairly good guitarist and pretty good vocalist, with lots of good creative talent. He went to Vietnam in 1970 as a helicopter pilot and served two tour of duty. He was wounded in his right arm, and received a purple heart, but his ability to play the guitar was compromised. He never tried to record again after Vietnam. Sadly, he died from an accidental gun shot wound.

@miketroutman5752 I;ll love him forever as I promised him. My heart goes out to his family and friends for the light that shines forever bright. Please don't sell him short, but he had a gift with his music talent. Thank you for your time and answers to my life time quest for answers. Unfortunately, I'll never know the answers I can't ask of him anymore.
I implore you to hug his family for me .I too feel lost. Carrol Blaurock Denny

@carroldenny618 Your heartfelt comments are touching. I know he was an accomplished musician. I have his records he made at Searcy's studio, and tape recordings of his performances with the Crossfires and the Checkmates in Kansas City clubs around 1963/1964. His only living relative is my wife, Dee, Larry's older sister. She moved away from KC around 1961, but remained close to him. She still mourns his death to this day.

@miketroutman5752 Mike, sorry if my comment seemed silly or to much info. Yet he was the best as this old 72 year old lady embraces his memories. If you and Dee ever wish to share happy memories of little Prince Charming , let me know. I tried to leave my email addy. But this site blew my entire massage to oblivion. Not a clue of how to accomplish the task. Affectionately Carrol .

@miketroutman5752 Mike I've copied it on paper, just need to figure out how to add it to my contacts list. Maybe don't leave it post on here, the bug-a-boos/ junk mailers might latch on to it. Saw this message late. Will send my addy tomorrow along with phone number. you two sleep well, hugs Carrol
